U.S. Embassy Beirut cover with K-3 censor.

This is a cover I just picked up with a K-3 censor mark. This is something new I am collecting censored post ww2 U.S. Embassy and diplomatic mail.

The cover is posted from the U.S. Embassy in Beirut to the U.S. consulate in Pakistan. Can anyone tell me 1. Why the use of a U.S. forces APO number and 2. anything about the K-3 censor mark as i have not come across it before.

1) US Embassies are served by APOs (military personnel -- attaches, guards and others, and their families in cases of accompanied tours, are located there). APO 09694 (replacing APO 694) operated at the US Embassy in Beirut from Jan 1 1965 to June 30, 1968. (It reopened in Cosimo, Italy from 1983-91.)

2) The censor mark is Pakistani, related to the 1965 Pakistan-India war. I just looked it up on eBay and found 2 examples of 1965-55 mail.

Thank you again for your help. I will have to take a look at these Pakistan censor marks. Looks like I can add Pakistan 1965-1966 censors to my collection.
