Would appreciate some help: What does Via e.v. mail mean? Is this possibly for escort vessel? See attached cover censored in the UK going from Dutch East Indies to Netherlands in 1918. Thank you.

Hi Robert

Here is my take on the inscription on your cover. I read a piece on Stampboards.com entitled "Routing Instructions on mail of the Dutch East Indies" entry by PBR dated 20 Aug 2014 in which they showed the following:

This shows that the recommended inscription on mail routed to Europe was "Per Engelsche Mail" your cover could mean "Per Engelsche Vaartuig Mail" or English Vessel Mail. There again it might not.
