Finding Aid

The “Preliminary Inventory of the Records of the Office of Censorship” along with two “finding aids” that are currently available at the Archives and a “finding aid” that is no longer available were scanned and run through an Optical Character Reader to produce a series of WORD files. Some of these files were then updated, annotated, and reformatted for easier use and accuracy. Additional philatelic related “finding aids” have been added.

The WORD files were then put into PDF format and combined into this file. This data base is fully searchable. In many cases there is a list of every folder in each box and in some cases the names of items within the folders.

It should prove an invaluable aid to anyone wishing to visit the US National Archives to look at records of the Office of Censorship. Experience has shown that ordering boxes of documents ahead will cut down on waiting time for them to be assembled. Russ's listing will help you pre-select the boxes of material that you would most like to see.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
